Crop Report October

BFA Florist Wholesale Finalist Announcement

THANK YOU so much for all your votes for the BFA Awards - WE MADE THE FINALS!! Evolve is in the final 10 for the Local Wholesaler of the Year Category!

We have had a challenging year for sure! (who hasn't!?) This is just the lift we need to keep Team Evolve going in the run up to the peaks! We are so grateful for your votes!

I'm looking forward to seeing some of you in person this weekend at the Good Florist Guide Event. Also at the end of October at BFA Awards and Vision Conference where I am also on the speakers line up answering all the florists burning questions about the British bit of the Flowers & Plants industry. Tickets at the BFA website

Our next "Evolution" is that we have added an IMPORT section to our webshop - this will  be limited and will only be sourced from ethical farms who have sound accreditations such as SEDEX. The main reason this has evolved is due to us not having quite as much volume as previous years in the winter season, demand has been incredibly strong this year which has meant British grown products have ended earlier than normal. UK grown Tulips will be later this year.

Our Outlets & Florist Studio need more products as well as many of your shops too. It is more challenging to continue supplying seasonal in the flower equivalent of the 'hungry gap' so we will be supplying a few select items to enhance our range and make life easier for those of you who don't have enough demand or an all year round relationship with other wholesalers for imported products.

In addition (Evolve by name and Evolve by nature!) the SUNDRIES section will have some more basics to keep you going! This week we add spray paint, coco fibre rope, wooden skewers and FloraGuppy. Christmas cards are on the way.

Courier Update

  • DPD continues to be doing a good job. We will also be trialling another courier to de-risk the peaks going forward. After hearing our local Fedex depot will be closing we think perhaps it is wise not to have all deliveries with one courier!! The strain on ALL of the couriers is not lessening at all and we want to ensure your orders reach you on time. You will of course have the same updates and be advised which courier will be delivering your products. The trial courier will be mainly be delivering your moss, foliages and mail order boxes and they are very experienced in delivering British grown plants!

Final Field Notes

  • Panicum grass will follow.

  • Chrysanthemums due November.

  • Tulip season will be late starting and is planned for Mid December.

  • Early forced pre-Christmas Daffodils are being planted now.
