Crop Report — 16th April 2026

British grown spring flowers eco sundries peonies scented stocks

Yes, we know. We only dropped our last report a few days ago, but...

Spring is Fast and Furious — Here's What's on the Way

The fields are doing something very exciting right now, and we can't keep it to ourselves.

We've been watching, waiting, and trying not to get too ahead of ourselves. But we're there now, the spring crop is arriving. Here's a proper run-through of what's on its way, what's already making us unreasonably excited, ( and probably slightly panicked if truth be told! )  and a few things we don't want you to miss.

What's Coming — and Soon

Solomon's Seal

If you've never worked with Solomon's Seal, this is your season to start. It comes in at almost the same time as most foliage availability starts to dip, which makes it genuinely useful rather than just pretty. The timing alone makes Solomon’s Seal a must-buy.

The stems are long, elegant, and arching, with those characteristic pairs of leaves running all the way up. As a structural foliage, it's hard to beat for late Spring work. It brings movement and a certain something that's difficult to achieve with anything else at this time of year.

And then there are the flowers. Small, dangling, delicate white bells that hang beneath each leaf pair. They're subtle enough that plenty of people won't even notice them at first, but once you do, you won't stop seeing them. They add a delicacy to arrangements that's very hard to manufacture with foliage alone. They’re worth every penny and one of the few things that genuinely makes the 'shoulder season' between Spring and early Summer easier to navigate.

Viburnum Opulus

Oh yes. It's nearly time.

Some flowers practically have a fan base, and Viburnum Opulus: snowball viburnum, guelder rose, call it what you like, is one of them. Those fat, rounded flower heads in the most perfect lime-green, slowly warming and opening as the weeks go on. Few things say 'British Spring' with quite the same conviction.

We know how many of you have been waiting for this one. It won't be long. Estimated early MAY

Scented Stocks

Two growers. Multiple grades. Masses of them.

Yes, we've mentioned it before, but we don't want to understate the stocks situation this year; it's a good one. We have supplies from two separate British growers, which gives us both depth of stock and a range of grades to suit different budgets and applications. Dense, fragrant, and deeply versatile, stocks are one of those flowers that can anchor a pastel spring design as easily as they can add texture and scent to something more full-on and lush.

Box deals are available across all of our upcoming Spring lines, including scented stocks, so if you want to stock up properly before the season hits full stride, now is the time. Get in touch, and we'll sort you out.

The Peonies. Where to Even Begin.

Right. Deep breath.

The peonies are currently sitting at around two feet tall in the fields. If you've grown or worked with peonies before, you know what that means; it means brace yourselves, because they are coming, and they're coming fast.

Here at Evolve Flowers, we have what we believe, genuinely, not as a marketing line, the TRUTH is THE most extensive selection of British peonies available from any wholesaler in the country. And there's a reason for that.

We are extremely lucky to be based where we are. Lincolnshire isn't just good agricultural land in a general sense; we happen to be close to two of the largest peony growers in the UK. That proximity matters. It shapes what we can offer, how fresh the product is when it arrives, and the kind of relationships we've been able to build over time.

One of those growers is a field I've personally been cropping from for around thirteen years. That's a long relationship in any industry, and in horticulture, it represents something genuinely valuable: an in-depth understanding of how that particular crop performs from year to year. When you buy peonies through us, you can trust that you're buying something that comes with that context behind it - our Black book of growers is more than a list it a curated cultivated list of EXPERTS, specialist growers like no others ... quietly growing in the background. These growers are not going D2C only B2B and we have an agility that means we are first at the door when cropping starts.

Altogether, we consolidate peony supply from five different growers. Some of that product arrives by road from further afield. Some of it, and this still makes us smile every time, literally arrives by hand from next door. And occasionally, in the most wonderfully agricultural fashion possible, in potato bins. You can't get more British than that.

The variety list this year is, frankly, huge. We'll be sharing a full breakdown of varieties in arrival order very shortly, so keep an eye on your inbox and on our website. From the early, single-petalled types that arrive with that open, wild look through to the enormous, fully double bowl varieties that look like something out of a painting, there genuinely is something for every style and every brief. Bridal work. Events. Gifts and

Market bouquets. Wholesale buckets. It's all there.

If peonies are a significant part of your summer offering, and they really should be, this is the year to plan your purchasing properly. We'll be doing box deals on peonies as supply builds, and given the variety of what's coming in, it's worth having a conversation with us about exactly what suits your needs. Get in touch, and we'll make it work.

Discovery Day — Don't Leave Us Hanging on the Menu

A quick but important one for those of you who are already booked onto our upcoming Discovery Day.

The venue is a brilliant farm pub with enormous charm and absolutely no shortage of enthusiasm that does around 120 covers even on a Wednesday. That means they're busy and need to prepare. So to help them, we need your menu choices back as soon as possible.

If you've had the booking confirmation and haven't yet sent your choices back to us, please do that today. We want the day to run smoothly, and that starts with making sure the kitchen knows what's coming.

If you haven't booked yet, tickets are only £10, and spaces are limited because we're managing the numbers carefully to make sure it's a proper experience rather than a scrum. It would be great to see you there.

Sundries — The Wildflower Display Collection

Our wildflower display collection is exactly what it sounds like, and it's perfectly timed for the late Spring products that are now arriving. Think Solomon's Seal, the first peonies, sweet peas, scented stocks… Basically, everything we’ve talked about above. Products that have a slightly wild, gathered quality to them deserve vessels which feel as though they belong in the same world.

The collection pairs beautifully with our new eco ribbon range, something we're really proud of. It's either fully biodegradable or made from recycled plastic, and the finish is a soft satin effect that genuinely has to be felt to be believed. No compromise on look or feel; just better material choices behind the scenes. Which, when you're working with British-grown flowers, and you care about where things come from, feels exactly right.

Both are available to order now through the sundries section of the website. Box deals and mixed options available; just ask if you'd like a breakdown.

A Note on the Season

British Spring floristry is one of the great privileges of this job. It's short and moves very fast. And every year, without fail, there's a moment where everything seems to arrive at once, and you're suddenly up to your elbows in the most extraordinary range of product you'll see all year.

We're almost at that moment.

The fields are growing. The growers are watching the skies. We're constantly pulling the van out and getting the orders ready. If you want to be well-stocked for the weeks ahead, for weddings, for events, for your market stall, for your shop, then now is the time to have that conversation with us. Everything mentioned in this update will be available through the website as it lands, and we'll be sending availability alerts as each line comes in.

As always — questions, orders, or just a chat about what's coming: get in touch. We're here.
